Our Story
One message on Instagram, one family match, and a conversation that never ended.
It began with a simple “hi” — Archana texted me first, on Instagram. Nothing planned, nothing expected.
Then our families suggested the very same alliance — Archana is a close relative of a cousin we have in common. We first met in San José, Costa Rica.
That first hi never really ended. This January, the conversation comes home to Kasangadu, Pattukkottai, Thanjavur — and continues for a lifetime.

After the Wedding
Staying a few days? Here is a relaxed three-day plan through the Chola, Nayak and Maratha heritage of our home district, starting Thursday, January 21.
Thanjavur · ~1 hr from Pattukkottai
Raised by Rajaraja Chola I and consecrated around 1010 CE, the “Big Temple” is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its 66 m granite vimana is crowned by a single capstone, and the great Nandi at the entrance is carved from one stone. Go early, before the sun gets strong.

Begun by the Nayaks in the 1600s and expanded by the Marathas, who ruled Thanjavur from 1674. The Durbar Hall’s painted arches and the royal art gallery hold a fine collection of Chola bronzes.
Sarabendrarajapattinam · ~25 min from Pattukkottai
An eight-storey, 75 ft victory tower built by Serfoji II in 1814 to mark the British victory over Napoleon. Climb the tower for views over coconut groves towards the sea. It is the closest sight to the wedding venue.
Darasuram, near Kumbakonam
Built by Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century, this temple is famous for its chariot-shaped mandapa and finely carved stone panels. It is part of the UNESCO “Great Living Chola Temples”.
Ariyalur District, ~70 km from Thanjavur
Rajendra Chola I founded this city around 1035 CE after his campaign to the Ganga and named it “the town of the Chola who conquered the Ganga”. The temple’s vimana echoes Thanjavur’s, in a softer, more graceful form.
On the Cauvery, ~55 km from Thanjavur
Built by Karikala Chola around the 2nd century, it is among the oldest working dams in the world and still irrigates the Cauvery delta. A good stop if you are driving towards Trichy.
